It came to the attention of the First Plumb-Line Church from Paul at the Heart Notes website that Manchester was to stage its biggest ecumenical event, We are One this says it is Manchester’s walk of Christian Witness.

When examined this so-called "walk of Christian Witness" this is to commense on Saturday 28 November 2009 from Salford Roman Catholic Cathedral to Manchester Anglican Cathedral.

They state On 22nd January 2000 Christians from all over Manchester gathered first in Salford Cathedral (Roman Catholic) for Worship and Prayer, then hundreds of people walked in a great procession from Salford Cathedral thought the centre of Manchester, stopping for open-air praise of God where John Wesley (founder of the Methodist movement) preached, and on to Manchester Cathedral (Anglican) for another service to celebrate our unity in Jesus Christ.

This also includes, African, American, Anglican, Asian, Baptist, Caribbean, Catholic, Congregational, Coptic, Chinese, European, Episcopalian, Evangelical, Indian, Jews Who Believe in Jesus, Methodist, New Churches, Orthodox, Pakistani, Pentecostal, Presbyterian, Salvationist, United Reformed, and many more

Following Charles Parker's comments concerning out Christian unity, the Question must be asked, is this the true unity that Jesus Christ is looking for or is this counterfiet, if the only thing that can come out of this is a false unity, then their can be no unity with people who promote a ecumenism that continually attacks on the truths of the Gospel, if anything they feed these people lies and half truths.

They want and hope that "it will be an enjoyable day out"

These events do not just take place in Manchester England but it is Globally In otherwords “While Evangelicalism and Catholicism have been traditional enemies, there are many signs on both sides of the Atlantic that a significant shift is happening in both communities, Old boundaries are dissolving, old prejudices dying out and old doctrinal disputes seem increasingly irrelevant.

Their is a reason why it has to be "enjoyable" simply because if people enjoyed themselves and they had fun, people are less likely to be focused on Biblical Christianity and more focused on the cares and plesures of the Age we live in.

They state "we recognise that simply by walking, worshiping and praying together we will not bring about true Christian unity

This could not be far from the Truth and there can never be true Christian unity, for true Christian unity to happen this can only come out of sound doctrine, this ecumenism through unity will ultimately do one thing, make Roman Catholics out of all of us, why should we subject ourselves to a mere parasite they call the Pope ?

Nevertheless if True Christian unity is something Christ himself prayer for is this the outcome he is speaking off? Jesus would never led us into a counterfeit unity brought in by a spirit of anti-Christ.

The Bible does warn us about a false Gospel, as Mike Gendron writes "As we approach the new millennium, we are witnessing the greatest push toward ecumenical unity the world has ever seen. Under the banner of AD 2000 all professing Christians are urged to join hands to fulfill the Great Commission before the year 2000. This pronounced urgency for ecumenical evangelism is an attempt to provide Jesus a wonderful 2000th birthday present when He returns. The movement has easily captured the fancy of many Christians.

However, the proposal for all Christians to forget their differences and unite for the purpose of evangelizing the world, completely ignores the fact that Roman Catholic, Orthodox and many Protestant churches preach a false gospel that denies the sufficiency of Jesus Christ and His finished work of redemption. A key to the success of this effort to unite has been a commitment to “tolerate one another’s beliefs and just love Jesus.” Overlooked in their zeal is the fact that if they all loved the same “Jesus” they would not tolerate a compromised gospel.

This ecumenical evangelism has provided fertile ground to rebuild the religious tower of Babel. Multitudes are being influenced by perverted gospels, doctrines of demons and false teachers. Many more are being persuaded by highly visible evangelicals to join the crusade. It is no surprise the Roman Catholic Church has been the driving force behind this ecumenical movement since the close of Vatican Council II in 1965. No longer able to force people to submit to its popes under the threat of death and persecution, the Vatican has changed its strategy to win the world. Wearing a new face of love and concern for the “separated brethren,” she is now calling all Protestants back home to the “one true church.”

Tragically, many pulpits are incredibly silent regarding the numerous scriptural warnings against being yoked with unbelievers. As under shepherds of the flocks entrusted to them, pastors must warn their sheep of the dangers of ecumenical evangelism.

It is clear that ecumenical evangelism would have never been tolerated by Jesus and His disciples. Time after time zealous religious leaders, with their own agenda for saving the world, were strongly rebuked:

Jesus did not join hands with the religious leaders who shut off the kingdom of heaven from men (Matt. 23:13). Paul did not unite with the Judaizers who only wanted to add circumcision to the Gospel (Gal. 1). Jude refused to cooperate with those who crept in unaware to pervert the grace of God (Jude 4). John did not seek to establish unity with those “who went out from us because they were never really of us” (1 John 2:19). Peter never joined hands with the false teachers who had forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam (2 Pet. 2:15). The writer to the Hebrews never united with those who would ignore such a great salvation (Hebrews 2:3)."

Mike Gendron also stated;

"So what are we to do with the false teachers within Christendom? We are not to partake in their endeavors but to expose their false teachings (Eph.5:6,11). With gentleness, we are to correct those who are in error in hopes that God may grant them repentance leading to the truth (2 Tim. 2:25). Those who “profess to know God but by their deeds they deny Him” must be exposed and silenced so others will not be deceived. (Titus 1:9-16). We are commanded to separate from those who persist in false teaching (Rom.16:17; Titus 3:10). For some, this may mean finding another church; for others, it may mean withholding support from ministries that continue to compromise the Gospel.

As end time deception increases and more and more people are led into apostasy, we must contend fervently for the faith that was once delivered to the saints (Jude v.3). As more Christian leaders seek the approval of men rather than God, the way of truth will become more narrow and less traveled. Those who remain on it will face persecution for refusing to compromise (2 Tim. 2:12). They will be accused of being intolerant, unloving and narrow minded. The apostles warned us that if we do not separate from false teachers we could be disqualified for service (2 Tim. 2:20), become identified with them and their error (2 John 10-11), and risk being partakers of their fate. (Jude vv.11-13).

As the ecumenical movement grows in popularity within the church, maintaining doctrinal purity will be an unpopular position to pursue. Yet it is indeed what we are called to do! By pointing out false doctrine and practices, we will be good servants of Christ Jesus as we are nourished by His word and sound doctrine (1 Tim. 4:6). Upholding truth can, and will be divisive within the church, but division is not always bad. Sometimes it is necessary to show which ones are approved of God (1 Cor. 11:19).

Often times those who contend for the purity of the Gospel are criticized for quibbling over things that don’t appear to be that significant. However, contenders for the faith realize that the most dangerous lie is the lie which most closely resembles the truth. Conversely, ecumenists consider anything that appears close to the truth as an opportunity for unity. Thus they embrace the false gospel of Catholicism because it is the most clever of all counterfeits.

The church today is suffering from a lack of discernment because many of its leaders are teaching partial truths and tolerating doctrinal error. Paul rebuked those who put up with this is the first century church. He wrote: “I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough” (2 Cor. 11:3-4). In these days of apostasy, the body of Christ needs Christians who will boldly and courageously proclaim the whole counsel of God and expose as error everything that opposes it. May God give us the grace, power, discernment and courage to be contenders for the faith."

Inspite of this they still persist “In terms of public witness: what already unites Christians is greater than what divides us, though the world does not usually see this and so our apparent disunity becomes a stumbling block to the gospel.

The very disunity and stumbling block they are trying to avoid, is actually the one they are creating, they do not create a stumbling block to people but they become a stumbling block for the Gospel, the Bible clearly teaches that the Gospel is a stumbling block and a rock of offence;

"But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumbling block, and unto the Greeks foolishness" (1 Cor. 1:23).

1 Peter 2:7 - 8 (KJV) Unto you therefore which believe Jesus is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, {8} And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at The Word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

Matthew 24:9 - 12 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity (lawlessness) shall abound, the love of many shall grow cold.

Going back to what they aiming for they say "we recognise that simply by walking, worshiping and praying together we will not bring about true Christian unity” the reson why they will not bring about true Christian unity is because of what ,

2 Chronicles 24:7 says; "For the sons of Athaliah, that wicked woman, had broken up the house of God; and also all the dedicated things of the house of the LORD did they bestow upon Baalim"

Charles Parker

“So this event will be an opportunity for Christians to show to the city of Manchester that we are here, we are united in our simple proclamation that “Jesus is Lord” and that the Gospel is relevant to today, probably more so than ever given the state of our increasingly Godless nation.”

One has to wonder why since the churches have abandoned God and have fallen into apostacy, this has lead to more ungodliness, they have been having friendship with the world and maintain to continue with their friendship with the world, James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God?

If we cannot discern what is true and right before God how can we have understanding of what kind of Love God seeks for us to have for others? How can we show the world Christ when we are indulging the world with “parties for God”, being “drunk in the spirit” instead of being sober-minded, losing all self control? We have deluded ourselves with such teachings that hinder the truth of the Gospel. Such teaching leads to compromise with ecumenical ideas. This idea also speaks of a common Christian heritage in Europe and thus equates all churches that come under the banner of Christendom. This leads people to forge links with the Roman Catholic Church and other similar apostate groups, this is called spiritual adultery and provokes God to anger because people overlook what His Word plainly teaches.

And and since they cant come up with anything origanal, this is false unity, this is what the RCC does and above all they dilute the gospel.

We should already know what God's will is because His Word makes it plain and clear, and that we are only in this world for one thing -- to be a witness to the world of the Gospel of Christ. One thing that neoevangelicals hate the most, that is the truth of the Word, because it upsets people and makes them feel uncomfortable. They reason also that, if we concentrate on error all the time we will become like the Pharisees but they miss one thing, the new challenges that are facing the true body of believers, new apostasies such as Ecumenicalism, neoevangelicalism and the new breed of false apostles and prophets.

More and more the attention in evangelical circles is toward new isms that borrow more from the new age (and the marketing strategies of cultural relevance), seeking that which is convenient and popular. The evangelism of the acceptable rather than what is true.

Paul writes in Philippians 3:2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the concision.

When Paul referred to “dogs” he meant people who would lead believers away from the truth in Jesus Christ. This new breed of evangelist is so caught up with “making Christ relevant” that they begin to compromise to the point where they teach another Gospel. Where God's love manifested through Christ's death for sin is replaced by humanistic love which is contrary to God's word.

Paul was concerned enough that he wrote, Galatians 1:8 -9 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any [man] preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. He also warned about these leaders, Acts 20:29- 31 “For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.”

The neo-evangelicals are undoing the work of the Holy Spirit
in evangelism and are bringing in error that has polluted the understanding God gave us. Neo-evangelism is eroding Biblical Christian Fundamentalism away from a Christ centred
stance. This form of evangelism is leading people into the Roman Catholic error, that salvation is found through the church. Loving people in a way that encourages fellowship with unbelievers, twisting the gospel message to the point where salvation is about knowing God's love rather than confronting sin and preaching repentance.

They want to be recognised by the world and believe that Christ's teachings need to be adapted around society. 1 They tolerate error, 2 they accommodate error, 3 they allow error, and 4 they are captivated by error. This view of Love has done more harm than good. Charles Parker who promotes this false idea of unity which is ecumenical, when really put into question how can we be have unity when all we have seen for the past 20 years is a decline in church attendance? What we are seeing is Christians leaving one church and going into another, reconversion rather then a rise of unbelievers becoming believers through repentance and then going into fellowship with the body.

As a nation we have become Spiritually dead, Spiritually Bankrupt, Spiritually asleep and morally sold out.

Dr Frank Green puts it; (Quote)

(1) Continual attacks on the truths of the Gospel. Many of our religious leaders deny the deity of our Lord; the substitutionary atonement of the death of our Lord and His bodily resurrection, the plenary inspiration of the scriptures and the doctrines of the Gospel.

(2) Constant emphasis of the social Gospel.

The world sees the church as a place to do good in such areas as Refugee help and working amongst the deprived. Whilst we acknowledge the necessity for concern for those who have need, we would question whether this is the prime consideration of the Christian church.
The socialist society has brought about the present Drug Culture and tbe Pornographic explosion with its violent attitude.

(3) The many “goals” propagated by the false sects.

The Jehovah’ s Witnesses, Mormons and the Christian Scientists still seek a hearing upon our streets, together with the proliferation of the many New Age brainwashing movements.

(4) The increase of heathen religions.
We are faced with the alaming fact that Islamic Mosques, Hindu and Sikh Temples and other religious buildings are now being erected at a faster rate than Christian churches in our land.

(5) The superficial attitude of Evangelicals.

We as Evangelicals have shut our eyes to what is happening around us and become insular in our work for God.
The greatest attack on the true Church of Jesus Christ is the insidious infiltration of the Roman church into Protestantism. We learn from history of the various ways Rome has used in the past attempting to undermine and destroy Protestantism.

The Church of Rome has used in its strategy open persecution when countless numbers were tortured on the rack and many more put in prison for their faith. The flames of the fire and the use of the bullet have been the means of killing so many who dared to stand against popery.
(End Quote)

The Church of Rome has most certanly got into the bloodstream, of we are one march for ecumenical unity, Here are a few Quotes from Path to Rome - Modern day journey into the Catholic Church, “This Collection of ‘Conversion’ stories relates to how former Baptists, Presbyterians, Salvation Army Officers, Plymoth Brethren, New Age Believers and Evangelical Anglicans all made their way along the path to rome” these quotes are from a collection of stories from people who have recently converted to Catholosism, “Ann Widdecombe former C of E “Oddly The Concept of Papal Infallibility gave me no trouble at all. Jesus had clearly said to Peter, ‘Whotesoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven. Thou art Peter and upon this rock I will build my Church…….. And in finding the Catholic Church I have found Peter. I have always had Christ but now I have peter as well……. No one but the pope claims to be the successor to Peter and non but the Catholic Church can trace its Line and its teachings without fail right back to the first apostles…. The Catholic Church alone provides the interpretative authority in its doctrine of papal infallibility…… Truth is absolute by its very nature and Christianity is a vastly more excting religion than most find comftable to contenplate but if truth is absolute it cannotbe diluted……”

Dwight Longenecker former Evangelical “But the Pope calls all Christians to profound conversation of heart in order for ecumenism to take place. In his encyclical Ut Unim Sint, he writes, Their can be no ecumenism worthy of the name without a change of heart personally as well as communally. Each one has to change his way of looking at things.’ He calls Catholics Orthodox and Protestance to move forward into a new re-formation of the church, ‘ The Second Vatican Council, connecting renewal, conversion and reform states that Christ summons the whole church… to a continual reformation.’ …… the Pope calls the whole church to join in a quest for a “new kind of Christianity” in which all Christians can once more unite”

“Can a New ecumenism rise from these ashes for the third millennium ? In a recent article (catholic herald, 19 March 1999) Ian Ker looks to a new dynamic which is emerging between Evangelicals and Catholics, and Graham Leonard has also noticed a radical shift in Christianity whick presages what many be a new character in the twenty-first century church, Fr Leonnard has spoken of this re-alignment as … between those on the one hand who believe that the Christian Gospel is revealed by God; is to be heard and recieved, and that its purpose is to enable men and women to obey God in love and through them for creation itself to be redeemed. On the other hand are those who believe that it can and should be modified and adapted to the cultural and interllectual attitudes and demands of successive generations and indeed originates in them.”

“While Evangelicalism and Catholicism have been traditional enemies, there are many signs on both sides of the Atlantic that a significant shift is happening in both communities, Old boundaries are dissolving, old prejudices dying out and old doctrinal disputes seem increasingly irrelevant.”
“While Scott Hahn, Patrick Madrid, and others work as converts to Catholosism, the Catholic Church is learning from Evangelicals in other ways. In the United States, England and Latin America Catholics are learning to do primery evangelism using an adapted form of the highly successful, Evangelical Anglican “alpha course”.

At the Same time, Evangelical leaders are less shy about using ‘Catholic’ techniques of prayer and worship. In America, Churches where candles and set litergies would – even ten years ago be unheard of, are clebrating lent and Advent with crosses, candles, ashes and litergies borrowed from the Catholics and Anglicans. As one American Baptist minister observed when told that the ashes he wanted to use for Ash Wednesday were derived from burning the Palm Sunday palms, ‘Whoa! All this Catholic stuff seems to be connected!”

“For Many reasons, the old ethnic and denominational religous barriers will be replaced by a new kind of Christianity. This new expression of the faith will not recognize the traditional national, linguistic and denominational borders.”

As Vatican II really gets into the bloodstream of the Church, the old doctrinal and liturgical missunderstandings will also dissapear at a grass roots level. Catholics will become more evangelical and evangelicals will become more Catholic. Lynn Jolly points out in her essay that Tillich referred to the ‘era’ of reform, rather then the churches of the reformation, and as one Catholic bishop has remarked, ‘The era of reform is over.’

To this Charles Parker would have us unite under and states; “what already unites Christians is greater than what divides us.”

This means that in order for unity to happen we must overlook these things on The Roman Catholic Church possition on the following; the Mass, Idolatry, Mary Worship, Oracular Confession, Transubstanciation, Purgatory, Prayer to the dead, Prayers for the dead, the papercy, The Rosary, the preasthood, Icons, Infallibility of the Pope, Roman Catholic Sacraments, Visibility of the Roman Catholic Church, Papal Supremercy, Baptismal regeneration, Scapulars, Relics, Indulgencies, Salvation through the Church of Rome, Penencies, Mysticism, Celibacy, Jesuits, The Catechism of the Roman Catholic Church, Tradition of the church, Rejection of Biblical Inerrency, Pedophile Priests and the vatican coverup?

and would do the same on the possition of the Church of England, Homosexual Priests, Ordination of Woman Bishops, Consubstanciation, Libral Theology, Church Hirachi, Idolitry in the High Anglican Church, Priesthood, Non seperation of Church and state, Charasmatic Movement, Mysticism, Liturgy, Idolitry, Institutions of the church, Freemasonry, Ecumenical Councils, Center for Inter Faith and Charasmatic Renewal?

I always ask the question what spirit these guys are of, it is by my belief and conviction that this march is not of Christ nor would He approve of such a mark of utter compromise as this.
False teaching and misleading people causes offence, but they don’t realise what damage they are causing. God holds them accountable. “Unto the pure all things [are] pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving [is] nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny [him], being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.”
(Titus 1:15 – 16)

Dear Mr Hayworth,

Thank you for your comments.
Clearly we are going to disagree.

Our web-site is there principally to encourage people to come to the "We are One" event so whilst I have published one comment against the event I will not be publishing your comments as I do not intend the We are One website to be a discussion forum on the whole (vast) subject of Christian (dis)unity.

I do not have the time (nor am I theologically qualified) to enter into a debate with you, but I wish you and members of First Plumbline Church every blessing in Christ, and I pray that you "may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ" (Ephesians 3:18).

Yours in Christ's service,

Charles Parker.

Having read his comments, the only responce I could give him was

Dear Charles

Thank you for your feedback to my comment, I must say that you quote (Ephesians 3:18) is out of context, simply because this does not refer to a false unity, you are clearly going down a dangerous road and that road is wide.

And this type of "love evangelism" is based now more than a desire for peace at any cost, this is not the peace that Jesus speaks about and not the worshiping in spirit and in truth, John 4:24 that God desires, your comments tells me that you have not really thought about what I had written, if you believe that it is pleasing to God to compromise, but we read that God did not tolorate what Solomon did in the Bible how much more do you expect got to find your actions any diffrent when God simply would not tolorate this, this is the same willing mistake you are making, especially in Solomon's position when God instructed him not to go after other gods, yet Solomon compromised, was involved in child sacrificies, burned incence to the gods of eygpt.

And Rome is doing exactly that, with pedophile priests, idolitry and blatant and clever false teaching from the pitt of hell they call the catechism.

Stephen warns in acts 7:43.

“Yea, you took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which you made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.” Acts 7:43

Yet you are dissobeying what God says in Ephesians 5:11 why have fellowship with them, shake hands with the enemy and as far as to have a unity with them, this is like slapping God in the face and shuning his word, this gives me no doubt in my mind the direction that you have taken will not be taken to lightly with the majority of anti-ecumenical christians, in this area you aim to promote will be taken with extreme decernment and caution.

Matthew 24:24 "For false Christs and (A)false prophets will arise and will show great (B)signs and wonders, so as to mislead, if possible, even (C)the elect.

This is exactly what is happening here.

It is more than Just being careful, we should not even go there I say this with sincere love.

In Christ

Miguel

Inspite of the warning they state Will you join us on Saturday 28th November 2009 ? Please encourage each other by leaving comments below.

The only comments they will accept is the ones that agree with them rather then the ones that warn, and so many are blind will go after them.

They state A considerable number of participants said “We have been praying and waiting for this to happen for years”. In the crowded Cathedrals, where many had to stand, it was repeatedly said “Things can never be the same again”. “We urgently need to come together to witness like this to our common faith”.

So what does God say in responce, “Because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth . . ." (II Thess. 2:10-12).

When it comes down to it we ought to listen to what our Bible says in Jhn 10:1 ¶ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out….And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

Truth IS hate to those who hate the truth. If we don’t help expose those who lead others into hell through “damnable heresies”, we do not have the love of God in us and are helping no one from being spiritually molested by Todd Bentley or any similar seducer. If we accept and love the True Jesus then we will keep His commandments, which are His Words, the Holy Bible. (Chris Pearson)
