Activist escapes attempted kidnap by psycho pastor
Apr 22, 2007
The streets of South London played host to a dramatic kidnap attempt last night as psycho pastor Peter Ajala tried to abduct a protester in scenes that eclipsed the violence outside Walthamstow a few weeks ago.
The amazing scene unfurled when a protester, inspired by the Walthamstow protest last easter, went down to Peter Ajala's church in Rotherhithe, South London, yesterday evening and put up placards all around the church and leafleted the area. The Pastor of the Potter's House church there, Mr Peter Ajala {who is renowned for his extremist, almost violent, ranting at various conferences} suddenly pulled up in a black car with reinforcements in tow after watching the protester in action. Ajala pulled up suddenly and jumped out of the car with another man and shouted "That's him!" before giving chase.
As the protester, fearing for his immediate safety, ran off he was followed by a gang of men with Ajala right behind him shouting arrogantly "You can't outrun me. Look he's trying to outrun me. You can't get away"
In this orchestrated ambush on the activist, the protester tried to make his way up the road but found his way blocked by 2 or 3 other members of the church lying in wait at the top. Ajala got up beside the protester but failed to grab him when the activist suddenly turned and doubled back. Ajala was then heard to shout to another of his disciples, "grab him" and another man appeared at the other end of the street blocking the fleeing man from making his escape. Despite attempting to dodge past him, the man lunged at him grabbing the protester and tussling with him. The man demanded that he hand over the bag the protester was carrying and continued to hold him despite repeated frantic requests for him to let go.
At this point Ajala and other caught up whereupon the minister, clearly agitated and angry, ordered the disciples with the words "Right, let's take him back to the church!" in what was perceived to be an attempt to get the protester out of public view where they could do what they liked with him. It was at this moment the activist managed to break free and ran again with several men in pursuit and Ajala shouting aggressively, "Don't let him get away!!!"
The fleeing man managed to lose his pursuers in a chase through the darkened streets of South London. He witnessed however some seconds afterwards, the black car that cut him off earlier race up to the lane he went through in an attempt to block him off. The vehicle waited for around 20 seconds to see if they could see him then after revving aggressively sped off in search of the man.
I had the opportunity of talking to the victim of this attempted kidnap right after the event. He told me, " I was very scared when they caught me. I was expecting a hail of punches to the head because of the level of aggression shown. Ajala looked angry and had a very mean look on his face." The activist told me he was inspired by the recent protests which ended in a chase outside the Walthamstow church a few weeks ago. " When I read about those two guys and saw one of the posters they put up I was determined to do something," He stated. It was hearing about how one of them got hurt which really wound me up. I volunteered to do more placarding and leafleting."
Despite being shaken by the event the protester is unrepentant, citing the cultic and violent nature of the Potter's House as just reason for putting his safety on the line. "These people stand there preaching and in the name of God destroy lives. I will never forget what they did to Jon's church {Wembley} and the methods they use to extract money out of people. They are religious bullies. They behave like gangsters with bibles"
This latest
incident is yet more evidence of just how extreme and dangerous the Potter's
House is. We would advise anyone out there if you wish to join the growing
number of protesters that you take reasonable precautions to defend yourself.
It is surely only a matter of time before one of these fundamentalists ends
up committing a serious assault.
