STREET EXECUTION SPARKS OUTRAGE IN LISMORE - AUGUST 2006
Source from http://www.habakkuk2-4.com/5.html
This
incident was so seious that it was reported in the Western Australian, a
regional newspaper. Back in the christmas period of 1994 Pastor Mike Butler
was the minister in charge of the Potters House in Lismore, Australia. He
caused huge controversy with a mock assasination which involved him running
down the street with an imitation firearm as a man dressed as Santa Claus
ran in front of him yelling ho ho ho to passers by in the buzy shopping
district. Butler was heard to shout 'Freeze santa' and 'It's all over for
you' before opening fire on the man. Shocked shoppers stood rooted to the
spot as the man fell crashing to the floor and lay spreadeagled on the ground
with his sack of gifts spilling out into the street. Children were heard
screaming and crying.
Pastor Butler admitted that one of the children scared by the incident was the daughter of the church member dressedas Santa Claus. She thought her father was reaaly being shot. The incident has sparked outrage among local residents and the local police have recieved numerous complaints. The Lismore pastor has also apparently recieved death threats by angry locals sickened by the action. Despite the shocking effect and the outrage it caused, not to mention the trauma of the church member's daughter, Butler remained unrepentant. Maybe next year we will have Santa whipping Jesus he added.
What is even more shocking is how fellowshippers actually found this whole thing funny and show no shame or remorse about it whatsoever. One of Butlers disciplles thought it was hilarious while a member of the church in Perth put the news article on the internet with his own view "Santa killed...at last!!!" and declaring that it was about time that someone did this. Other fellowship churches have denounced Santa Claus as SATAN Claus and renamed the christmas grotto's that department stores set up during the festive period as 'satan's grotto'. Other drama teams have gone to the extreme of re-enacting the crucifixion with a man dressed as Santa Claus whipping Jesus. Even the Jehovah's Witnesses in their cultic opposition tochristmas as a pagan festival have not gone this far. This is cultic militancy without a brain. If anyone in the fellowship wants to know why people look at the church in a negative light then they only have to look at behaviour like this.
Lismore update : Recently I recieved correspondence from a fellowship disciple in the Lismore Potters House complaining that the above report was not a fair reflection of the events that transpired. This is despite admitting that he was not actually there to witness it for himself. In defence of pastor involved involved in the above incident he said that one of the church came up with the idea of crucifying the easter bunny but the pastor said that 'this probably wan't wise'. While attempting to make the pastor look like a balanced and sensible individual, this disciple has only succeeded in making his church look like another extremist element in the fellowship. After all, how many churches do you know that would even consider crucifying the easter bunny as an outreach skit? What on earth is wrong with these people?
