It
is a small house-church cult led by Darwin that meets in someone's
living room in Lake Hughes, California (a remote community near
the desert about an hour north of downtown Los Angeles). In 2002,
they changed the name of their sect from "God's Word Fellowship"
to "a true church." The lower-case letters and the indefinite
pronoun reflect a mock humility. In reality, Darwin and his flock
believe they represent the true church. Though they vehemently
deny this, they cannot identify a single other church or Christian
leader—from the early church until today—whom they
would be willing to fellowship with as brethren.
The members of GWF/atc often use the Lord's Day as an occasion
to picket and disrupt other churches throughout Southern California,
thus magnifying the shameful public reproach they have already
brought on the name of Christ. They also like to picket large
public gatherings with signs and slogans contrived to be as offensive
as possible. In recent years, Fish and his minions have walked
in front of the Tournament of Roses Parade carrying signs that
extol God's anger and blame Jesus for the events of 11 September
2002.

The group also apparently "evangelizes" by leaving ugly graffiti here and there. Click here to see a sample.
