What
is Dyspraxia?
-
Dyspraxia is an impairment or immaturity
of the organisation of movement.
- Associated
with this there may be problems of language, perception and thought.
- Dyspraxia
affects co-ordination, copying other people’s movements,
short term memory, organisational skills, fine and/or gross motor
skills.
- Up
to 7-10% of the population are affected by dyspraxia and 2-4%
severely.
-
There may be overlaps with one or more neurodiverse (ND) impairments
including Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Disorder, Aspergers Syndrome
and Tourette’s Syndrome.
-
Each person with ND is unique in their strengths and with removal
of disabling barriers.
-
Each Person with ND should be helped in a holistic way rather
than treating individual labels.
